Top Ten Tuesday: Books I was Excited to Get But Have Yet to Read

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Itโ€™s REALLY starting to feel like summer here, like we skipped most of spring to get to sweltering heat that does NOT relent. So while Iโ€™m sweating buckets, letโ€™s reminisce about this weekโ€™s TTT topic: books I bought and still havenโ€™t currently read them yet.

That happens a lot to other people too, right?

I had so many books to choose from because itโ€™s sadly a thing I have? The books I own get the least priority to be read because ARCs and library books all have due dates. Darn you due dates.

I can probably come up with more excuses for why I am SO behind on books I own, but letโ€™s just dive into some of the ones I chose to admit to.

You can judge me, I fully give you my permission.

Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Characters

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

I really like this weekโ€™s topic because itโ€™s almost like looking in a mirror reading a book about bookish characters. Whether the protagonist is an avid reader, librarian, book seller or writer, thereโ€™s just something so relatable about it because itโ€™s most likely what we are doing as well.

But as I was trying to come up with a list of books with bookish characters, I realized I donโ€™t read many books that actually have such individuals in them. So Iโ€™m excited to read all of your other lists this week! But in the meantime, here are the few I could come up with, grouped by bookish character type.

Booksellers

  • Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey
  • Recommended for You by Laura Silverman
  • Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley

Librarians

  • The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles

Readers

  • Being Mary Bennet by JC Peterson
  • Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch
  • Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston
  • Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Writers

  • Sense and Second-Degree Murder by Tirzah Price
  • The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka

Let me know if any of these books are on your radar! Iโ€™ve read half of these and the rest are on my TBR, but Iโ€™m intrigued by it all.

Until next week!

Red (Taylor’s Version) Book Tag

While I wouldn’t say I’m a diehard Swiftie, I grew up during some formative years listening to her music, including her first release of Red. Memories of first heartbreak, first love, and everything in between are so intertwined with her music because I listened to them non-stop on a loop.

So although it’s been a while since Red (Taylor’s Version) was released, I’ve definitely been feeling like T.Swift during work lately. I’m sure it didn’t help that I’ve been seeing this tag around here and there and it’s like a worm that dug deep into my subconscious.

I don’t know who started this so please let me know who to credit, but I saw this on Rachel’s blog and Georgia’s blog so please check out their answers to this tag.

State of Grace – Best opening book in a series

I gotta say, there’s nothing quite like a Neal Shusterman book, but Scythe is something out of the ballpark. While I liked the sequel (and have yet to finish the 3rd book), nothing compares with the initial introduction to this world of reapers and their moral code. It left me thinking for so long afterwards what it would take to be a good reaper – and yes, I realize I would never get to be one to make such hard decisions.
