Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
It’s REALLY starting to feel like summer here, like we skipped most of spring to get to sweltering heat that does NOT relent. So while I’m sweating buckets, let’s reminisce about this week’s TTT topic: books I bought and still haven’t currently read them yet.
That happens a lot to other people too, right?
I had so many books to choose from because it’s sadly a thing I have? The books I own get the least priority to be read because ARCs and library books all have due dates. Darn you due dates.
I can probably come up with more excuses for why I am SO behind on books I own, but let’s just dive into some of the ones I chose to admit to.
You can judge me, I fully give you my permission.
1. Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

I know, I’ll get to it, all right? I AM excited for it…I just need more time.
2. Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong

I got the Owlcrate version of this gorgeous book and I’m still waiting to do a buddy read for this one (no rush or anything).
3. The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik

I keep trying to pick this one up and I technically started the first few pages in January this year but alas, other books pulled me away.
4. Save the Date by Morgan Matson

I got the physical ARC for this from the publisher? I’m so sorry for not getting to it in time. Also, Morgan signed this for me when I met her. Agh, I’m a horrible person.
5. The Toll by Neal Shusterman

I also pre-ordered this from Owlcrate and was SO excited for the trilogy conclusion. I’m still questioning why I haven’t read it yet.
6. Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan

It’s a more recent release (phew) but I got it from my FairyLoot subscription. I’m just dying to pick it up…but the TBR is so endless! The cover is absolutely gorgeous though, isn’t it? (UK and US, really)
7. P.S. I Like You by Kasie West

I adore Kasie West and have loved almost every single book she’s put out since her debut. I really should’ve picked up this one by now since I’ve read even the books after it.
8. Warcross by Marie Lu

This was supposed to be my Marie Lu introduction since I hadn’t (and still haven’t) read Legend but alas, my friend who never reads got to crack this one open first.
9. Bitterblue by Kristin Cashore

I think I got disheartened at the potential plotline even before I picked it up that I’ve subconsciously been keeping it on the back burner all these years? Hard to say.
10. Chain of Gold by Cassandra Clare

I dislike love triangles with a FERVOR because I always pick the wrong guy so…I’m actively decided even when I pre-ordered this book that I’d wait until the series was complete before I go into it. I’m still waiting. Chain of Thorns, hurry up!

AND that’s my list this time, friends. There’re mostly no excusable reasons for why I haven’t picked some of these books up yet, but unfortunately that hasn’t changed a thing about their reading statuses. Maybe this year I’ll get to some of these.
Just maybe.

I’ve read most of Kasie’s including the one you have on your list and they are fun and cute. Some of my most favorite feel good reads. Also, I own that one by Morgan too! Looks like a fun one. Hope you enjoy all of these when you can. 🙂

honestly, i think we can all blame the fact that we haven’t yet been granted immortality for the fact that our tbrs never seem to remain shorter than us?? RUDENESS.
anyway, I NEED TO READ DAUGHTER OF THE MOON GODDESS TOO!! the GORGEOUSNESS that is the cover + chinese mythology DEFINITELY GUARANTEES SOMETHING VERY CLOSE TO PERFECTION, but maybe i’m a little scared the book might not live up to the cover ?? i hope you love all of these when you get to them, AND CANNOT WAIT TO HEAR YOUR THOUGHTS!!

I know right?? Or else they should just stop publishing such amazing books for a moment so we can stand a chance of catching up.
I got the UK cover of Daughter of the Moon Goddess and it’s so gorgeous too 🥺 I hope it lives up to the beautiful outside. I’ll definitely post a review as soon as I get to them.

So many books on your list I still need to read too! And ohh I’m very curious what you’ll think about “The Toll” and “Warcross”. It’s funny but I liked “Wildcard” more than the first book. I think I’m in the minority there though. *lol* Happy reading! I hope you’ll enjoy all those books once you get to them. =)

Ooo that’s intriguing. I had a friend read Warcross and Wildcard first. I don’t think he liked Warcross much but perhaps he thought Wildcard was better too. I just hope I’ll at least mildly enjoy them 😊
