The ABC Book Challenge ~ B

The ABC book challenge features a fun weekly post dedicated to interesting books that have been read or would hopefully be read starting with a specific letter of the alphabet.

While I do not know the original creator for this, I have seen this posted by Sofii (A Book. A Thought) and Tiana (The Book Raven ). Check out their sites ’cause they are amazing!

And onto “B” we shall go!

Memorable titles starting with “B”

Batman: Nightwalker by Marie Lu: I’m not the hugest fan of Batman as a superhero but this book of young Bruce Wayne captured my heart in all the right ways. Especially with the perfect girl as the intriguing love interest. It almost makes me like Batman in general. Almost.

Before I Fall by Lauren Oliver: While not the happiest story in definition, this is definitely one of the best character development stories I’ve read in contemporary YA. And of course, it has to be good since it was made into a movie! With every day that is repeated, I fall more in love with our protagonist’s struggles and hopes for making things right with those she loves.

Bright Smoke, Cold Fire by Rosamund Hodge: Dark and creepy as is Hodge’s style, this novel is a different twist on the classic Romeo & Juliet tale. I don’t think anyone is more talented at rewriting fairy tales with such unique spins.

Broken Things by Lauren Oliver: Yes, another Lauren Oliver book. Clearly I’m a fan. This time, a mystery/thriller with beautiful prose that focuses on a story within the story. I love the way the details slowly unravels with past/present and multiple people POVs, picking up the pace and letting us guess who murdered the girl 5 years ago.

By Your Side by Kasie West: As contemporaries go, I love the simplicity of the plot (boy meets girl in trapped library during long weekend snowstorm) and its excellent execution with it. It’s no simple feat at all, especially ’cause I get bored with contemporaries easily! Kasie West sure knows how to steal my heart and pull all the right emotional heartstrings.

Titles I want to read starting with “B”

The Belles by Dhonielle Clayton: This has been on my TBR for a while now and I don’t know what’s stopping me from reading it so…here’s to adding it to my priority list.

Blood Rose Rebellion by Rosalyn Eves: It sounds like an action packed fantasy and start of a new series so what more could I ask for? Sign me up! (Please don’t let me down!)

Bloodwitch by Susan Dennard: The next book in the Witchland series focusing on my favorite character Aeduan from book 1. I seriously can’t wait for this to come out.

Blood Will Out by Jo Treggiari: Described to me as a YA version of Silence of the Lambs, I mildly hope it’s not as bad ’cause this girl does NOT do horror books. Only movies. Though the ratings seem to be more critical.

The Burning World by Isaac Marion: The sequel to the famous Warm Bodies novel (and movie), I was terribly excited to hear there was more. I also hear there’s mixed feelings about it but I’ll reserve my judgment.

a sorrow fierce and falling -jessica cluess

SUMMARY

It’s time for war.

After suffering terrible losses, Henrietta and Lord Blackwood have led their warriors to Sorrow-Fell, a vast estate where only those invited by a Blackwood may enter–and the ideal place to plan a final assault against the Ancients.

It’s time for a wedding.

Henrietta nervously awaits her marriage to Blackwood, but when the ritual to become his bride reveals a dark secret, she realizes that Sorrow-Fell is not a safe haven; it’s a trap. Convincing the sorcerers of this, however, is not easy. So with Maria, the true chosen one, and Magnus, the young man who once stole her heart, at her side, Henrietta plots a dangerous journey straight into the enemy’s lair. Some will live. Some will die. All will be tested.

In this stunning conclusion to the Kingdom on Fire series, Henrietta must choose between the love from her past, the love from her present, and a love that could define her future. While battles rage, the fate of the kingdom rests on her decision: Will she fall or rise up to become the woman who saves the realm?

It’s time for Henrietta to make her stand.

SERIES: Kingdom on Fire #3

PUBLICATION DATE: October 16, 2018

Yes, I happen to know that this book came out yesterday, but seeing as I haven’t found it in stores yet, I’m going to let it slide so I can highlight just how excited I am for the last book in the Kingdom on Fire series. Aside from the gorgeous cover there, here’s to hoping it ends off just as well too.

Have you read this series yet? Did this book make it to your anticipated TBR list?
