Anticipated Books Coming May 2021

I cannot believe it is officially May already, can you? It feels like Iโ€™m in some perpetual time loop where every day feels kind of the same but maybe with slight differences? I am hoping for good things this month. Iโ€™m starting a new job end of the month, wrapping up everything at my current place. Itโ€™s fitting that a month of rebirth like May is full of bittersweet goodbyes while also welcoming new beginnings.

I hope as your days get brighter (if youโ€™re in the northern hemisphere), you will be reminded that there is good in sometimes just the simplest of pleasures in this world, like the budding of a new leaf or the coolness of splashing in some water.

Okay, now that weโ€™re past the sentimentality, letโ€™s move onto what weโ€™re anticipating here at DTRH in a very full month of May!

May 4

  • Realm Breaker by Victoria Aveyard
  • Blade of Secrets by Tricia Levenseller
  • The Ones Weโ€™re Meant to Find by Joan He
  • Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson
  • Sunkissed by Kasie West
  • 10 Truths and a Dare by Ashley Elston
  • Counting Down with You by Tashie Bhuiyan

May 11

  • Illusionary by Zoraida Cordova

May 18

  • Donโ€™t Breathe a Word by Jordyn Taylor
  • Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey

May 25

  • Sixteen Scandals by Sophie Jordan

Thatโ€™s it from us! Let us know if you are anticipating any of these releases as much as we are! And if weโ€™re missing something you are super excited for, please share with us so we can add that too ๐Ÿ™‚

April 2021 Wrap Up and TBR

Hey friends, itโ€™s been a particularly strange and somewhat stressful month for both Fives and me. Just with health things and other stuff, itโ€™s been full of unique challenges that hopefully will pass soon.

With that being said, Iโ€™d say the month for reading wasnโ€™t bad overall. Iโ€™m moving steadily and had some good reads. Letโ€™s dig into it shall we?

What have I read this month?

Top Ten Tuesday: Animals (Heavily) Featured in Books

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Hello friends! This week has started off feeling super slow and draining, and my head feels like itโ€™s in the clouds thinking about a wonderful series I just wrapped up with the best chemistry between the lead and a surprising romantic interest. So of course I canโ€™t concentrate on work (or practically anything else), so excuse the attempt Iโ€™ve made for this weekโ€™s TTT.

The original interpretation of this topic was about animals in books. I was assuming those that were a bit more anthropomorphic or like, an actual character, and I honestly cannot think of too many. So instead, I will just talk about books that feature animals or animal characters more heavily in the plot line.

1. Grimalkin (The Iron King by Julie Kagawa)

Actually one of my favourite characters in the series because he reminds me so much of what I imagine Cheshire Cat from Wonderland would be like, Grimalkin is a cat-like creature who pops in when he feels the need and disappears when danger arises. You never know where he may show up or how helpful heโ€™ll be but his company along parts of adventures were always welcome!
