Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Good morning! I want to say “Happy Tuesday”, but do we like Tuesdays more than Mondays or are they both equally days people don’t look forward to?
Anyhow, today’s TTT is a Halloween freebie. I know I’m not being super original here, but I’ve been flitting around Instagram this whole month and saw a number of recommended reads for this spooky season. I thought I would collate the ones that seemed interesting and/or popular to discuss with you all!

1. The Woods Are Always Watching by Stephanie Perkins
2. The Taking of Jake Livingston by Ryan Douglass
3. The Companion by Katie Alender
4. House of Hollow by Krystal Sutherland
5. All These Bodies by Kendare Blake
6. The Witch Haven by Sasha Peyton Smith
7. Lakesedge by Lyndall Clipstone
8. White Smoke by Tiffany D. Jackson
9. The Corpse Queen by Heather Herrman
10. The Devil Makes Three by Tori Bovalino

What do you think of these titles? Do you read scary stuff? I’m still a very uncertain reader of horrors so I don’t even know if any of this I CAN read but welcome your input!
Until next week,

I LOVED House of Hollow, Witch Haven, and The Devil Makes Three! I’m looking forward to reading Lakesedge as I’ve heard good stuff about that one!

I’m glad to hear that 😄 I’m still debating which one I might try without having to stay up all night afterwards

I’d recommend The Witch Haven then, that feels the least creepy of those three I mentioned. I loved House of Hollow but it was creepy as heck!

Thanks for the recommendation! I’ll look into that one first then

I have TDMT on my TBR! And I’ve never heard of The Companion- but I gotta say, that cover is gorgeous.

Let me know what you think about that one! And The Companion is quite pretty 🥰

I’m too much of a chicken to read much of the spooky stuff but I have to admit that I’m very curious about The Devil Makes Three (which I’ve seen on countless lists these past few months) and All These Bodies! Great picks 🙂

Me too! No shame in that haha. I read All These Bodies. If you love paranormal mysteries, then it’s your book. I just wasn’t expecting that 😅

Lakesedge and White Smoke have been winners for me this month, but I’m hoping I can squeeze in The Corpse Queen too.

Since you don’t love genuinely scary books too, I take it these two weren’t too too bad? 😄

White Smoke has a few creepy moments, but totally manageable! And I’d say Lakesedge is more about all the Gothic vibes than actually scary. 🙂

Thanks! I’ll keep this in mind

House of Hollow looks super spooky.
Here is our Top Ten Tuesday.

It does! I hear it’s scarier when you actually understand the reference for it in the book

I’m not into horror whatsoever, as I scare easily, get creeped out very easily, and absolutely cannot read anything gorey, but Lakesedge and The Witch Haven are both on my TBR!

If you read them, please let me know what you think! If you can’t handle them, then that’s probably a good sign I may not either 🙈

I have The Taking of Jake Livingston and The Witch Haven on my TBR. The first I want to read before sharing it with my daughter. I’m a chicken when it comes to horror, but she loves all things creepy. So who knows, I may just give it to her and not read it.

Me too! No worries. The creepy books may be better off with other ppl in my life too haha

I don’t read scary stuff, which makes October kind of a nightmare for me here in blogland, no pun untended! But some of those covers are *gorge*.
I went the other way, with covers that are scarier than the books.
Oh, and I love Tuesdays. Largely BECAUSE of TTT. 🙂
My list this week is here—
