Top Ten Tuesday: Books that Deserve More Love

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Good morning friends! It is that time again on a Tuesday morning, but I struggled a lot with this week’s TTT. I apparently do not have many secondary characters I love enough to want to highlight so I thought I would take the time to highlight books I believe deserve more love in the blogging and reading community.

Below, I break down how many ratings these books have on Goodreads (all under 10,000) and my little spiel for why they deserve to be on your TBR next!

1. Magnolia by Kristi Cook

Goodreads ratings: 7,374 (review)

An enemies to lovers story set in the atmospheric Old South that follows a duo whose parents had always wanted them to fall in love. Will a tornado be just the thing that will bring these two together? Framed as the opposite of a Romeo-Juliet story.

2. Walk the Edge by Katie McGarry

Goodreads ratings: 8,405

A story about a biker gang that is, yes, close like family, but also beyond the stereotypes and the personal struggles they fight through and the relationships they form. This particular story focuses on a bad boy biker and the good girl from school – maybe opposites really do attract.

3. Shooter by Caroline Pignat

Goodreads ratings: 2,087 (review)

Breakfast Club with very different students stuck together to survive when a shooter comes into their school and terrorizes the students there. Jock, introvert, overachiever and loner – can they rely on one another to make it out alive?

4. Golden by Jessi Kirby

Goodreads ratings: 9,813

A girl who has stayed strictly in her comfort zone for far too long takes the plunge by following clues in a journal about the last night of a golden student who died tragically. Filled with plenty of heart and emotionally charged writing.

5. Starfall by Melissa Landers

Goodreads ratings: 2,713

Think ragtag crew in outer space going on adventures that are mostly hectic while juggling a romance blooming between a snarky princess on board and a guy she would normally not give the time of day for. Who doesn’t love an odd pairing while doing deep space exploration?

6. Angels in Pink series by Lurlene McDaniel

3 best friends each get their own story as they find love and face great losses, all while volunteering together at their local hospital as “pink angels” to serve the patients there who may just change their whole perspective of life.

7. The Great Hunt by Wendy Higgins

Goodreads ratings: 6,957 (review)

Think The Bachelorette but set in a fantasy world where all the men vying for the princess’ hand in marriage are VERY different from one another. Definitely filled with romantic tension and intense competitions while balancing the greater issue at hand in their kingdom from external threats.

8. Free to Fall by Lauren Miller

Goodreads ratings: 6,307 (review)

A futuristic world set in the not-too-far-off future where everyone listens to and uses this one app that has dominated the market for every decision in life. What happens when you decide to disobey the recommendations of this app (and its company) and start thinking for yourself?

9. A Mad, Wicked Folly by Sharon Biggs Waller

Goodreads ratings: 4,673 (review)

Set in early 1900s London, this story follows the courage of a girl who was willing to push the status quo imposed on women in her class to follow her dreams and fight for her rights during the suffragette movement.

10. Sword and Verse by Kathy MacMillan

Goodreads ratings: 2,577 (review)

A wholly unique fantasy that focuses on the power of words and language where the heroine isn’t some fighter but a scholar who knows there is power in what is said and read.
