Top Ten Tuesday: Books With Excellent Worldbuilding

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Hello friends! Itโ€™s officially August and over halfway through the year. How has time flown by so fast already? Sometimes a month can feel like a blink of the eye.

Iโ€™m currently sleep deprived after an extra long but fun weekend so this post will be kept a little shorter – which may very well not be all that short, if you know me. Originally, this weekโ€™s TTT was about places Iโ€™d love to visit in books, but I feel I have already touched upon most of the places I would LOVE to live/visit in books in a previous TTT post.

So for this week, I chose to highlight some books I thought had excellent world building. To me, this means the world is described well enough that it can exist outside of the characters we follow in the stories. It is both imaginative and realistic in the way it is run.

Let me know if you agree with my choices in the comments below.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books From My Past Seasonal TBRs I Still Haven’t Read

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

I don’t know about you but I’m notorious for not reading books I have explicitly listed as high priority on my TBR. It’s a hazard for mood readers, I suppose. Something else always pops up at the last minute and takes me by surprise with my yearning to pick that one up instead.

For those of you who are excellent at keeping a schedule with your reading, huge props to you, honestly. As for me, well, here are some of the books I was DYING to read when they came out and I swore I would pick them up in the season of their release…but clearly I have not yet gotten to them.

1. Forging Silver Into Stars by Brigid Kemmerer

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Make You Want to Travel

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Itโ€™s freebie week for TTT and Iโ€™m just so stuck on the yearning to travel that Iโ€™m bringing back out the books that help me feel like Iโ€™m traveling even though Iโ€™m very much not. Or perhaps, itโ€™ll have the opposite effect and make me wish I was traveling even more.

Either way, who doesnโ€™t love a bit of travel escapism in their reading? Please donโ€™t raise your hand if thatโ€™s you. (Just kidding, you totally can, but Iโ€™ll need a 5-paragraph essay from you explaining why not).

Without further ado, here are some of the books that make me want to travel to the locations heavily featured within its pages.

1. Love & Gelato / Love & Luck / Love & Olives by Jenna Evans Welch
