Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Make You Want to Travel

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

It’s freebie week for TTT and I’m just so stuck on the yearning to travel that I’m bringing back out the books that help me feel like I’m traveling even though I’m very much not. Or perhaps, it’ll have the opposite effect and make me wish I was traveling even more.

Either way, who doesn’t love a bit of travel escapism in their reading? Please don’t raise your hand if that’s you. (Just kidding, you totally can, but I’ll need a 5-paragraph essay from you explaining why not).

Without further ado, here are some of the books that make me want to travel to the locations heavily featured within its pages.

1. Love & Gelato / Love & Luck / Love & Olives by Jenna Evans Welch

2. The Geography of You and Me by Jennifer E. Smith

Location: Around the world, honestly

3. Anna and the French Kiss by Stephanie Perkins

Location: Paris

4. The Conspiracy of Us by Maggie Hall

Location: Also around the world

5. I See London, I See France by Sarah Mlynowski

Location: Europe in general

6. Hot British Boyfriend by Kristy Boyce

Location: England

7. Loveboat Taipei by Abigail Hing Wen

Location: Taipei

8. Somewhere Only We Know by Maurene Goo

Location: Hong Kong

9. Take Me Home Tonight by Morgan Matson

Location: New York City

10. Breathless by Amy McCulloch

Location: Nepal/Himalayas

Have you read some of these books and wanted to go to those locations? Do you have any great recommendations for books featuring locations around the world? I’d honestly need more for my TBR because this girl is not traveling anywhere any time soon.

Until next week, friends!

      1. I find it fun 🙂 I’ve only just started doing it as a proper thing the last couple of months. Before that I did it just for my own entertainment each month!

    1. Italy is wonderful! I really hope you get to visit soon. I went to Venice 6 (how has it been this long already?) years ago and I thoroughly enjoyed my time there. Ireland’s a high priority on my bucket list and it sounds like the perfect place to road trip.

      1. So do I, my friends and I have been talking about doing an interrailing trip and we think Italy is one of the places we’d want to stop, so hopefully that’s something we’ll manage to do in the next few years. Everything I’ve seen about Venice makes me think I’d love it, it looks so beautiful. Italy is such a beautiful country and so full of history that I definitely want to explore it more. Yeah I don’t really know why I’ve never been to Ireland considering how close it is, I really need to change that soon!

      2. Yes! I’ve always been so jealous of the ability to travel by train between countries in Europe. I hope you get to do that soon. Italy has the great combination of food, culture and sights to explore. I really wanna go back soon too 😝
