Top Ten Tuesday: My Most Recent (Favourite) Reads

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Itโ€™s Tuesday again and this weekโ€™s TTT is going to seem a little repetitive since I have recently shared what Iโ€™ve read last month here.

Instead, I will share my last 4 to 5 star rated books in 2021 so far because they warrant just more notice and love! If anything catches your eye, please try and find a copy for yourself because I more than recommend these to anyone who is even remotely interested in their descriptions.

1. The Gilded Ones by Namina Forna (review)

  • A beautiful first book in a new fantasy world, a girl faces her inner demon (literally) when she realizes her blood bleeds a different colour. Her salvation? An offer to fight as the monster she is for the kingdom against savage beasts.

Top Ten Tuesday: Animals (Heavily) Featured in Books

Hello friends! This week has started off feeling super slow and draining, and my head feels like itโ€™s in the clouds thinking about a wonderful series I just wrapped up with the best chemistry between the lead and a surprising romantic interest. So of course I canโ€™t concentrate on work (or practically anything else), so excuse the attempt Iโ€™ve made for this weekโ€™s TTT.

The original interpretation of this topic was about animals in books. I was assuming those that were a bit more anthropomorphic or like, an actual character, and I honestly cannot think of too many. So instead, I will just talk about books that feature animals or animal characters more heavily in the plot line.

1. Grimalkin (The Iron King by Julie Kagawa)

Actually one of my favourite characters in the series because he reminds me so much of what I imagine Cheshire Cat from Wonderland would be like, Grimalkin is a cat-like creature who pops in when he feels the need and disappears when danger arises. You never know where he may show up or how helpful heโ€™ll be but his company along parts of adventures were always welcome!

Top Ten Tuesday: Colourful Covers

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Hello friends! I hope today is the start of a fabulous new Tuesday, especially in line with the fun and colourful atmosphere this topic should bring this week. In case it isnโ€™t obvious already, today I will highlight some covers that were bold, gorgeous and unapologetically colourful. Is it just me or are there just so many covers these days, particularly in YA, that are black? Or is that just me? (Though do let me know if you agree ๐Ÿ˜‰ )

Without further ado, here are the covers I present to you today. Do any stick out to you and just make you curious enough to want to check out its synopsis?
