Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Hello friends! Itโs been one hectic week, and this list for todayโs TTT is one that took a while to gather together. This week I have compiled quotes on the love of reading and storytelling. After all, if you enjoy reading, Iโm sure itโs for a variety of reasons as these quotes suggest. Life can be lived through the words we read, and they most definitely shape our worldview. While my own words may not be as eloquent, I hope these quotes and/or books showcase the beauty and love I personally have for reading in my own life.
I hope you enjoy! Let me know in the comments below if any of these quotes resonate with you.

โI am going to tell you a story you already know. But listen carefully, because within it is one you have never heard before.โ

2. The beauty and importance of libraries

โLibraries are lungs…books the fresh air breathed in to keep the heart beating, to keep the brain imagining, to keep hope alive.โ

Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley
4. A whole new world unfurling within a bookโs pages

โThis is a book, and a book is a world, and words are the seeds in which meanings are curled. Pages of oceans and margins of land are civilizations you hold in the palm of your hand.โ

5. The long-lasting impact of books

โThe books we love, they love us back. And just as we mark our places in the pages, those pages leave their marks on us.โ

8. We leave parts of ourselves in stories

โIsnโt it odd how much fatter a book gets when youโve read it several times?…As if something were left between the pages every time you read it. Feelings, thoughts, sounds, smells…and then, when you look at the book again many years later, you find yourself there, too, a slightly younger self, slightly different, as if the book had preserved you like a pressed flower…both strange and familiar.โ
Inkspell by Cornelia Funke
9. Love of reading propels us to great lengths

โA half-read book is a half-finished love affair.โ
Cloud Atlas by David Mitchell
10. Many lives lived

โA reader lives a thousand lives before he dies. The man who never reads lives only one.โ
A Dance with Dragons by George R. R. Martin
If itโs one thing I appreciate in life, it is this ability to share life through the power of words and the emotions invoked. Do you have any quotes about our shared love of reading that resonates with you? Please share below!
