Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Pet Peeves

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Good morning friends! Was everyone at a loss for social media yesterday as I was? Thank goodness there is this community here that is hosted separately from all of that.

This weekโ€™s TTT is an interesting one and Iโ€™ve separated it into pet peeves specific to things found within stories, as well as general pet peeves related to books.

Story-related pet peeves

1. Love triangles

  • I honestly get so antsy with love triangles, usually because I get so invested in the person the protagonist DOESNโ€™T choose to be with. My poor heart ๐Ÿ’”

2. Whiny/unlikeable protagonists

  • Do you ever just not connect with the main person whose POV youโ€™re stuck with for the WHOLE book? Yep, I really donโ€™t like that. Because I Cannot. Escape. Them.

Top Ten Tuesday: Favourite Book Covers for 2022 So Far

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Good morning everyone! I have had such an amazing weekend celebrating my boyfriendโ€™s birthday. I missed travelling, even if itโ€™s just to somewhere not too far away.

But now that Iโ€™ve rested a little from that mini vacation, I am back with a freebie topic for this weekโ€™s TTT. I have been looking forward to some releases coming out next year – waiting super impatiently, might I add – and I thought itโ€™d be a great time to browse through some covers that have already been released.

Now, they always say โ€œdonโ€™t judge a book by its coverโ€โ€ฆbut letโ€™s be honest, how many of us still kinda do? A little bit?

I have collated some covers that personally look super intriguing to me from series/authors I have yet to read from. That way, I have no preconceived notions that would otherwise draw me to these books.

Letโ€™s take a look below! ๐Ÿ‘€

  1. League of Liars by Astrid Scholte
  2. Sense and Second Degree Murder by Tirzah Price
  3. The Rumor Game by Dhionelle Clayton and Sona Charaipotra
  4. Chasing After Knight by Heather Buchta
  5. My Fine Fellow by Jennieke Cohen
  6. Daughter of the Moon Goddess by Sue Lynn Tan
  7. Gallant by V.E. Schwab
  8. Hotel Magnifique by Emily J. Taylor
  9. A Forgery of Roses by Jessica S. Olson
  10. Charm by Tracy Wolff

If you were to look at these covers, would YOU want to pick them up and read it? Let me know in the comments below!

Top Ten Tuesday: Books on my Fall 2021 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Good morning and a happy Tuesday to you all! Iโ€™ve been having a super week of reading lately (including listening to an audiobook or two which is new for me), and I feel excited to be getting through my TBR a teensy bit faster.

But of course, as books get off the TBR, many more get added onto it.

This weekโ€™s TTT focuses on the books I am highly anticipating this fall. Some of these titles have just come out this month, but I have still included them here because I have yet to read any of these titles.

Letโ€™s begin!

  1. Auroraโ€™s End by Amie Kaufman & Jay Kristoff
  2. Youโ€™ll Be the Death of Me by Karen M. McManus
  3. The Hawthorne Legacy by Jennifer Lynn Barnes
  4. Kingdom of the Cursed by Kerri Maniscalco
  5. The Bronzed Beasts by Roshani Chokshi
  6. Beasts of Prey by Ayana Gray
  7. The Last Graduate by Naomi Novik
  8. The Righteous by Renee Ahdieh
  9. Once Upon a Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber
  10. Our Violent Ends by Chloe Gong

How many of these are on your TBR or TTT list? Would you read any of these based on the cover alone? Let me know in the comments below! Itโ€™s time to make those TBRs longer haha.
