Birthstone Covers: July 2022

Leslie @ Books Are The New Black created a fun monthly post featuring book covers that fit the birthstone of the month. This can be the color of the cover or the color in the title.

Anyone can join, just be sure to give credit where itโ€™s due.

July brings us the beautiful ruby, and I had a lot of fun browsing for bright red covers that match the monthโ€™s gorgeous birthstone. And out of the other months Iโ€™ve done so far, Iโ€™d say red covers are more commonly found than some others colours.

Without further ado, here is my selection.

Next monthโ€™s birthstone is peridot and Iโ€™m going for light green/yellow-green covers! If you want to join, youโ€™re more than free to do so.

Until next month! (Which really is right around the corner)

Review: Once Upon A Broken Heart by Stephanie Garber

Series: Once Upon a Broken Heart #1

How far would you go for happily ever after?

For as long as she can remember, Evangeline Fox has believed in true love and happy endings . . . until she learns that the love of her life will marry another.

Desperate to stop the wedding and to heal her wounded heart, Evangeline strikes a deal with the charismatic but wicked Prince of Hearts. In exchange for his help, he asks for three kisses, to be given at the time and place of his choosing.

But after Evangelineโ€™s first promised kiss, she learns that bargaining with an immortal is a dangerous gameโ€”and that the Prince of Hearts wants far more from her than sheโ€™d pledged. He has plans for Evangeline, plans that will either end in the greatest happily ever after or the most exquisite tragedy. . . .

Before I dive into my thoughts about this book, I had the pleasure of buddy reading this book with Leslie @ Books are the New Black. You can find her lovely review of this book here.

Whimsical and full of the magic that has propelled Stephanie Garber as a must-read author for many, this new companion series featuring a certain villain we all love and a girl who believes in happy fairy tale endings was everything I couldโ€™ve asked for. And I had pretty high expectations.

Top Ten Tuesday: Books That Make You Want to Travel

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Itโ€™s freebie week for TTT and Iโ€™m just so stuck on the yearning to travel that Iโ€™m bringing back out the books that help me feel like Iโ€™m traveling even though Iโ€™m very much not. Or perhaps, itโ€™ll have the opposite effect and make me wish I was traveling even more.

Either way, who doesnโ€™t love a bit of travel escapism in their reading? Please donโ€™t raise your hand if thatโ€™s you. (Just kidding, you totally can, but Iโ€™ll need a 5-paragraph essay from you explaining why not).

Without further ado, here are some of the books that make me want to travel to the locations heavily featured within its pages.

1. Love & Gelato / Love & Luck / Love & Olives by Jenna Evans Welch
