Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Hello book friends! This weekโs TTT was a fun list to make. Iโve followed along with many of the authors I mention below, sometimes for YEARS, that I forget (occasionally) that I havenโt actually read their books yet. And itโs never about them personally. I just havenโt had the time yet as the TBR continues to grow every week.
If you love some of these authors, let me know which of the 10 I should prioritize for next year!

1. Victoria Aveyard

2. R.F. Kuang

3. Angie Thomas

4. John Green

5. Tracy Deonn

6. Emily Henry

7. Holly Black

8. Tahereh Mafi

9. Colleen Hoover

10. Sabaa Tahir

Am I the only one who hasnโt read some of these authors before? Who is a MUST read? Let me know in the comments bel

Haven’t read 2-6 and 10 either. I loved the The Folk Of the Air trilogy, Shatter Me, some of CoHo’s books and Blood Queen, tho. Poppy War is somewhat on my list, Legendborn as well

I will have to try to prioritize Holly Black and Tahereh Mafi soon then. Iโve heard good things about both series from many people so I know theyโre probably the kind of books Iโd enjoy too. Thanks for your input!

I loved Babel by R.F. Kuang but I didn’t love Poppy War.

Ooo thatโs good to know! I own Babel but donโt have any of the Poppy War series. I will definitely start there then

I loved The Cruel Prince, super fun trilogy. I also enjoyed Shatter Me a lot even though the writing was too dramatic.

I own The Cruel Prince and book 2 so I really should get to it, shouldnโt I? I know less of the Shatter Me series so perhaps Iโll start with Holly Black then. I think this is the first time Iโve heard the other series was too dramatic. Is it in the sense of unbelievable plot/characters?

The way the main character reacts to some things was way over the top and the writing made it really cringey sometimes. But I’ve read the first 3 books a few times each so it doesn’t bother me too much ๐
I think The Cruel Prince is better written but both series are a lot of fun.

The film version of The Hate U Give was really good if you wanted to experience that story that way instead!

Thanks Lydia! Iโve been wanting to watch it for so long but I wondered if I should read it first as they say the book is usually better, or at least a different side of the same story. I definitely plan on watching soon!

I have read all of these and I loved them all but Aveyard and Green. I just don’t think their writing style is for me!

Thank you, Leslie! Iโll definitely put your recommendations into consideration ๐

I’ve read THE FAULT IN OUR STARS and BOOK LOVERS, but that’s it from your list. I liked them both, but not enough to read more books by those authors. I hope you enjoy these authors when you get around to reading them.
Happy TTT (on a Wednesday)!

The Poppy War is incredible, but keep putting off the third book for some reason.

I hear so many great things, but I think itโs the length and the intellectual level of writing that makes me put it off for a bit. Rebecca is just such a knowledgeable and well studied individual that I feel I need to prepare my brain for it

I completely get that! Her books are intimidating, and I think you definitely need to be in the right mood for them going in.
