Top Ten Tuesday: Not So Scary Books for Halloween

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Hey friends! It’s actually Halloween today that TTT lands on and what a better time to do a freebie list on scary books, right?

Apparently not for this girl because I don’t love horror books much. So bear with me as I list out a number of “cozier” books for this spooky season that may just perhaps be something you’re in the mood for in case you’ve depleted your horror books on the TBR – or you’re like me and not ashamed to admit that you need to read horrors in broad daylight only.

1. The Beautiful by Renee Ahdieh

2. The Witch Haven by Sasha Peyton Smith

3. Vampire Academy by Richelle Mead

4. Spells for Lost Things by Jenna Evans Welch

5. The Accident Season by Moira Fowley-Doyle

6. The Luminaries by Susan Dennard

7. Our Crooked Hearts by Melissa Albert

8. Spells for Forgetting by Adrienne Young

9. Stalking Jack the Ripper by Kerri Maniscalco

10. The Dark Days Club by Alison Goodman

And if you’re looking for even more reads that aren’t quite scary, check out my list of cozy romances for autumn and books that gave me goosebumps (but didn’t scare the daylights out of me).

Do you love scary books – the spookier the better? Or would you love this kind of list even more?
