Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.
Today’s TTT is going to have to be short because I’m using my limited phone data to write it up due to a nationwide outage that has knocked out my home internet for 5 days and counting now. Working from home has come to relying on good friends’ hospitality and kindness to take me in. At least this leaves a lot of time for reading physical books. Reminds you the internet and connectivity shouldn’t be everything, you know?
Anyway, I mentioned in my wrap up for June that I’ve really been feeling summer lately and getting to enjoy it with good friends and family. So this week’s topic was already on mind and I’m so happy to share the book covers that have always made me think of summer.
1. Most Morgan Matson books

- Since You’ve Been Gone
- The Unexpected Everything
- Second Chance Summer
2. Nowhere But Here by Katie McGarry

3. Open Road Summer by Emery Lord

4. Love & Gelato series by Jenna Evans Welch

- Love & Gelato
- Love & Luck
- Love & Olives
5. With and Without You by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka

6. Beyond the Break by Heather Buchta

7. The Geography of Lost Things by Jessica Brody

8. Heartbreakers and Fakers by Cameron Lund

9. Most Kasie West books

- Sunkissed
- Listen to Your Heart
- Places We’ve Never Been
10. The Summer I Turned Pretty by Jenny Han (especially the new TV series tie-in cover)

I’m especially dying over this one. I LOVE the colour tone of the cover (and the TV series) and it just screams nostalgia and warm summer to me.

If you noticed a pattern to these books, then you’d have guessed right. I typically think of summer in contemporaries, especially romances. As a mood reader, it’s also what I gravitate towards more in the summer and the publishing sphere also puts out a lot of great ones right before the summer months so my TBR is FULL of them.
What do you think of when you think of summer covers? Do you agree with any of my selection?

That’s a great collection of covers, and you’re right, they really look like summer. I’m totally ready for sun and some heat – Seattle has had a REALLY slow summer start this year and I’m over the rain!!! Happy reading this week.

Lovely summer covers.
Oh having the internet down is a nightmare! We watch a lot of on demand TV so when the internet goes down it is very upsetting for my 3 year old as he doesn’t quite understand what live TV means 😂
Hope it comes back soon!

I’m sorry you’re on an Internet outage right now. We had one in my country recently, too. May you get back online soon.

I hope the internet outage ends soon but I have to admit that I do enjoy a bit of disconnect from the internet and all every now and then. Hope you can find some joy in it! 😊 Jenny Han, Kasie West and those Love & Gelato books really do give off the perfect summer vibe. Great picks!

When I think of summers, I always think of the ocean because I grew up on the coast and loved going to the beach and having boat rides.
Love your list!
