If you’re like me and totally not travelling this summer, well, the only remedy for a relaxing day is to watch something that fits the mood. That’s right. Let’s talk about summer movies or TV shows you must watch this season!
These days, the popularity of book adaptations to the small screen is truly growing. In the past, YA books that became movies on the big screen may be hit or miss but the success in moving to streaming platforms has shown there’s an appetite for such stories for old fans and new ones alike.
That being said, here are some recent releases that are perfect for the summer, especially if you’re a mood reader/viewer.
Along for the Ride (Netflix film)

Based on the book by Jennifer E. Smith

Love & Gelato (Netflix film)
Based on the book by Jenna Evans Welch

I loved The Summer I Turned Pretty! I watched it all in one day.. oops! haha. I did watch Love and Gelato and … it is so so bad. It’s terrible and they changed so many things. It’s also really corny at times. MAYBE you will like it better than I did!! The others I haven’t watched but I’m excited for! 🙂

Haha I started love & gelato and I already know this isn’t the story I fell in love with. At least there’re good sights and backdrops to admire from my couch/bed. I really liked The Summer I Turned Pretty. All the nostalgia feels 🥹

Hahaha! Right?! I don’t even know how I finished that movie.. it was a train wreck and didn’t do Justice to the book at all! WHY!! I never understand changing things up!!

So many adaptations are out this summer! I’ve been watching TSITP and its enjoyable (not entirely perfect) but love Belly, she’s my favorite character!

I did watch The Summer I Turned Pretty. I thought it was pretty well done. Loved the updates and the soundtrack! I also watched Love & Gelato and thought it was just okay. They changed a lot. But the setting was pretty! 😉

Yesss the soundtrack was amazing for TSITP. I found some new music to enjoy from it. Lots of feels from that series. Still not finished Love & Gelato so final thoughts not formed but it’s…something 😂
