Top Ten Tuesday: Books on my Summer 2022 TBR

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

Before I start off on today’s lovely TTT topic, I just wanted to say a quick thank you to all of you who wished me well after my bike accident last week. I always appreciate each and every one of you and your comments even if I may not have had the chance to respond to them yet. So from the bottom of my heart, thanks for being such a great community ♥️ I’m healing well and hopefully will be fully recovered soon.

Today’s topic is about the books I want to read this summer. As usual, I like to read a collection of both new releases coming out this summer but also making space for other books I already own or haven’t had the chance to read yet.

Have you read any of these yet? Are some of these on your summer list too?

Buddy reads!

I’m doing a buddy read with Leslie for Once Upon a Broken Heart right now, and Fives and I are slowly making our way in a buddy read for The Diamond Eye. I’m super excited for both of these reads and finally getting around to them – the irony of super anticipated books that I buy and then don’t have time to read. Here’s to accountability and a summer of shelf cleaning.

New author to check out

Writing under a different name between her adult and YA works, both of these titles were highly anticipated and I can’t wait to start on them. Atlas Six in particular has had such glowing reviews that I’m almost buzzing with nervous energy to dive into it this summer. Please hold up to expectations *fingers crossed*

Summer releases

I find that summertime is a bit slower for publishing (or is that just me?) but these two are my highest anticipated releases these months and I absolutely can’t wait to get my hands on them. Karen McManus is the queen of YA mysteries so hopefully Nothing More to Tell will not disappoint. Ali Hazelwood has shot herself into stardom last year and I’m sure Love on the Brain will be on many lists this week.

Summer vibes! ☀️

Contemporary is always a great choice for me in the summer. I’m such a mood reader that I do notice I read more contemporaries around this time of year than fantasies which I generally lean towards. Places We’ve Never Been and Love Radio were both fairly new releases I’m so excited to get my hands on soon.

Asian pride

I’m so happy more Asian authors writing about Asian experiences and culture are becoming more prevalent. I speak about this all the time as I wish as a child I got to see myself in the books I read. But better late than ever, and The Noh Family and XOXO are two I’ve yet to read so there’s no better time than the present to pick them up!

What’re you looking forward to reading this summer? Let me know in the comments below!

    1. Thanks Kristen! Appreciate it. I haven’t heard too many reviewers talk about My Mechanical Romance or Love Radio so I’m really happy to hear you enjoyed them. I value your book opinions a lot. I’m just waiting to get my hands on a copy

  2. I’m glad to hear you’re recovering after your accident! I had Once Upon A Broken Heart on my list this week too and it’s the same situation, I was really excited for it to come out but it’s been languishing on my shelf ever since. The Diamond Eye is one of my favourite books of the year so far, so I hope you enjoy it as much as I did. It’s definitely not just you, I always find summer a bit of a slow time for new releases, it always seems to be May and September that are big release months.

    1. Right?? So glad to know I’m not the only one with owned books just sitting on my shelf as pretty trinkets. I can’t wait to continue The Diamond Eye. After reading The Rose Code last year, I’m a little nervous with my expectations so I hope I will love it as much as you!

      1. Oh definitely not! Honestly, they’re very different books even though they take place in the same time period, so I don’t think they’re all that easy to compare.

    1. Haha I know what you mean! TBR can’t keep up the more I browse others’ lists. I hope you enjoy The Diamond Eye too. Kate Quinn is so amazing with her historical fictions. I understand why so many love her books. Have a wonderful time reading it!

  4. This is a great list! I’m excited to read Love on the Brain too. I didn’t realise Olivie Blake was using a different name for their YA. I still need to read The Atlas Six – hopefully soon!

    I’m glad you’re doing better!
