Top Ten Tuesday: Books Set in Boarding Schools

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.


I think I default to boarding school locations whenever we have a location freebie, but it’s really because I was super jealous of the “boarding school experience” growing up which seemed to make school a lot more fun – like a whole new adventure.

Now that I am older, there is a joke that goes around why there are a lot of books in YA set in boarding schools. Because it is so much easier to write teenagers when they do not have to interact with their parents, who are notably harder to write about realistically.

So here is a list of YA books set in YA that I have either read or plan on reading (somewhere in the foreseeable future).

Meeting Jordyn Taylor

Almost exactly a week ago, I had the pleasure of meeting Jordyn Taylor, author of the newly released The Revenge Game, at her hometown launch for the book.

In an intimate setting held at a local indie bookstore, it was an amazing opportunity to hear insights into her writing process and the excitement of her first in-person book tour when her previous novels were launched during the pandemic. Even sweeter was the fact that many of her family members, high school friends, and even teachers came to support someone they knew and loved for such an amazing milestone.

Top Ten Tuesday: Reasons Why I’m Thankful for Books

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.


I may not be American but this week’s prompt for thankfulness should be something I do more than once a year, so I am grateful to take this time to list out reasons to be thankful.

While I am super thankful for many people and blessings I do not want to take for granted in my life, I am also thankful for books for a number of reasons. If you resonate with some of these reasons below, or you have additional items to add, please let me know as I want to hear from you!
