Top Ten Tuesday: Bookish Characters

Top Ten Tuesday was created by The Broke and the Bookish in June of 2010 and was moved to That Artsy Reader Girl in January of 2018. It was born of a love of lists, a love of books, and a desire to bring bookish friends together.

I really like this week’s topic because it’s almost like looking in a mirror reading a book about bookish characters. Whether the protagonist is an avid reader, librarian, book seller or writer, there’s just something so relatable about it because it’s most likely what we are doing as well.

But as I was trying to come up with a list of books with bookish characters, I realized I don’t read many books that actually have such individuals in them. So I’m excited to read all of your other lists this week! But in the meantime, here are the few I could come up with, grouped by bookish character type.

Booksellers

  • Last Chance Books by Kelsey Rodkey
  • Recommended for You by Laura Silverman
  • Words in Deep Blue by Cath Crowley

Librarians

  • The Paris Library by Janet Skeslien Charles

Readers

  • Being Mary Bennet by JC Peterson
  • Love & Luck by Jenna Evans Welch
  • Bookish and the Beast by Ashley Poston
  • Book Lovers by Emily Henry

Writers

  • Sense and Second-Degree Murder by Tirzah Price
  • The Roughest Draft by Emily Wibberley & Austin Siegemund-Broka

Let me know if any of these books are on your radar! I’ve read half of these and the rest are on my TBR, but I’m intrigued by it all.

Until next week!

  1. love bookish characters, its always interesting to read about them in book form! 😍📚 Its funny because I’m sure I’ve encountered lots of bookish characters in what I’ve read but I never remember them off the top of my head 😅

      1. See even in that one, I liked the past timeline better, though once the two kind of met and more exciting things were happening in the present timeline than just Mab and Osla griping at each other, I enjoyed it a lot more.
